Introduction to roasting

RECOMMENDED FOR INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED BARISTAS WITH BASIC COFFEE KNOWLEDGE.     

Our introduction to roasting course is designed to give professional baristas, home roasters and coffee enthusiasts a basic understanding of coffee roasting through a practical and hands on workshop.

COURSE COVERS:·

  • What a drum coffee roaster is and how it works.
  • The difference between convection and conduction heat and how they are used in the roasting process.
  • Understanding the roast progression and learning the correct terminology.
  • How to write a roast plan and stick to it.
  • How to utilize cupping to assess different roast attributes.
  • How to identify roast defects.
WHAT TO BRING
Comfortable shoes for standing at the roaster.
